Weekly Meeting Update:

This week at Chem-E we've been busy preparing for interviews and new recruits.
With Imagine Day just around the corner (September 2nd), we are full hands on deck with some surprises for people who visit our booth!

Our applications close on the 7th of September and we will send out acceptance letters ASAP.
Interviews will be opened on September 13th so please look out for our emails.

Our mechanical team has been busy streamlining the drive train to ensure straightness while in motion as well as maintaining our Wall-E chassis.
We also hope to add moving arms, lights, and speakers to our Wall-E to really bring him to life!

The lab and propulsion team are hard at work brainstorming and redesigning their reaction. As of right now they are using a Sodium-Hydroxide, Dextrose, Indigo Carmine, and Copper-Magnesium battery.
They are working alongside each other to ensure the best outcome and most optimal way to power our Wall-E.

Circuitry has been meticulously wiring parts together to ensure Wall-E is operating at his best. There were a couple role changes at the start of the month, but things are moving along for sure in this sub-team.

Weekly Meeting Update:

This week our team met up after a summer break to do some housekeeping and organizing for the upcoming year.

Our mechanical team has decided to replace the treads we currently have on our wall-e-chem car as well as some touch up paint on the main body so he's looking extra sharp!

Battery has been experimenting with a new gel-based battery using zinc and copper making it a nice tropical blue.

The lab team has been working hard to come up with a stop reaction for our car before national competition in the fall.

And our media and outreach team have been busy with this new website and speaking to possible sponsors for the upcoming year!

Check back soon for application deadlines and keep an eye out on our IG and LinkedIn!

Weekly Meeting Update:

We'd like to say a great big thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth on Imagine Day, as well as everyone who applied to be on our team this year!

There were many great applicants and this year was definitely a very competitive cohort.

As of this week we have sent out interview emails and we thank everyone for submitting.

Of course, not everyone has made it into this years team but we highly suggest re-applying for next year if you did not receive an email or for other design teams as we are very impressed with all the applicants!

In the lab whilst also processing applications and scheduling interviews, we are still on track for presenting our Wall-E car at National Finals in Boston this October.

Our battery is still undergoing testing and our mechanical team is hard at work designing functional arms and neck to bring Wall-E to life in Boston.

The media team will begin filming our Nationals video as well this upcoming weekend around Vancouver so if you see us, say hi!

Weekly General Meeting Update:

This week we welcomed our new general members to the team and brought them up to speed on what we've been up to this summer; as well as what our plans are for the upcoming Nationals Competition taking place at the end of October.

The mechanical team has begun ensuring everyone is up to date on the best ways to use SolidWorks 3D.
To keep things on track our wonderful lead, Hilmy also taught our mech members some pretty nifty tricks and tips to optimize the software.

Similar to the mechanical team, circuitry is working with its members to ensure everyone is on the same page on programming Ardueno micro-controllers.
With proper calibration these micro-controllers will ensure the LED lights within the car will respond to any light changes to help with our stopping mechanism.

The lab team spent the meeting orientating the new members as well as clarifying the parameters the team must work within when brainstorming reactions.

New members on lab had a tour of the car and how the reactions work in conjunction with the other sub-teams as well as clarifications of roles within the sub-team.

Our battery team has been busy this week working with reactions for the National Finals as well as getting to know their new members. Today they also toured the car as well with a Q and A period with the leads on past battery reactions.
After this question period, the sub-team members were sorted into their roles as well as their goals for the upcoming week and sent on their way into the lab.
